Environmental Impact Study of the Unlevelled Link Project of the Railway Line Cascais and Porto to Lisbon Waist Line

The Unlevelled Connections the Cascais Line and the Port of Lisbon to the waist line, can be justified for the following main reasons: to end the level crossing between the line of road-rail passengers to Lisbon - Cascais, and path of rail freight from Oporto and Lisbon line Waist; establish a new connection from the railway, line passengers Lisbon - Cascais, the northern part of Lisbon, following the line waist, ending the level crossing between the road and the railway, goods line which links the Port of Lisbon and waist line and streets Avenida Brasilia, Avenida da India, Av July 24, Prior Street Crato and Largo de Alcântara; significantly improve the flow of traffic in Alcântara.

 

• The EIA followed the development phase of the Preliminary Study having been given any support to the tenderer (REFER) and the designer in the development of the Preliminary Study data, warning of potentially critical issues to resolve with project design, along with the support for obtaining a conditional Favorable Decision by the Environment Ministry.


• Accordingly the EIA addressed the following environmental indicators: climate, geology and geomorphology, surface water resources, groundwater resources, flora and fauna, current land use, land use, soils and land use capability, sound environment, quality air, socioeconomics, landscape and heritage.


• A model of air quality has been developed in the study area.
